Haunted Mansion Spellbinding Spiels

It's the day before Halloween and I have decided to create a post today inspired by some of the Haunted mansion cast member spiels  (lines the cast members in the Haunted Mansion use) to create a mood that is unmistakably Disney.

Here are a couple of my favorites:  (These are best conveyed in a low, monotone voice, fyi)

"Step lively..."

"Please move to the dead center of the room"

"Your time has...come"

"Please fill in all the dead space, there are many others dying to come join you"

The last time I was at Disney World, we had a wonderful cast member.  She had some very creative spiels and  would go around tapping guests on the shoulder and quickly dodging before she was discovered.  I loved seeing the reactions.  And that girl was so stinkin' serious.  She never cracked a smile.  She was great!

I would LOVE to be a Haunted Mansion cast member.  A friend and I tried to think of some clever one liners.  I can't remember the all of the ones that we came up with in line but, here it goes...

"You're a heartbeat away from the time of your life."

"Please make sure to stay with your party before you depart."

"please crossover to the next room."

That's all I got for now.  Weak.  I know.  But, I like thinking up new spiels while I am waiting in line for the ride, it's a lot more inspiring than behind a computer.

Check out these Haunted Mansion spiels...

Also, I found this article while looking up some spiels that talked about the Haunted Mansion going PC due to complaints from park guests.  Boo.  But, since the article was written in 2008 and I went to the park about 4 months ago and they are still using the same favorite lines, I'm not so sure on the accuracy?  Who knows?

Happy Halloween...foolish mortals...Muwah ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!

Let the Countdown Begin...

I am excited to tell you that I am officially going to Disney World in 28 days.  Yay!  I just called the guest services line and hit it right off with the cast member. The conversation went something like this:

Cast member: "Good afternoon, thank you for calling Walt Disney World where there is always a reason to celebrate.  How can I help you have a magical experience."
Me: "oh my gosh, I just am so excited.  Oh, sorry.  I just love Disney World."
Cast member: "Awesome!"
Me: "I know!!!!
Cast member: "Have you ever visited Disney before?"
Me: "Girl, I love it.  It is my favorite place.  I mean in the world."
conversation continues...questions that aren't that entertaining....
Cast member: "Well, have fun okay!"
Me: "Not a problem!!!"

It is kinda spur of the moment kinda not.  Of course I am always up for a Disney trip but, a friend of mine is going for the first time and invited me to tag along.  So, (for blog purposes...who are we kidding, because I stinkin' love this place) I have so graciously...:) agreed to go.  Here are some things I am planning on doing during my trip to bring back to the blog.
1. taking lots of pictures.  Including updated photos of the Fantasyland expansions.

2. Eating a lot of good Disney food and taking lots of photographs of the food.  I can use these to do reviews on restaurants I've eaten at.

3. Experiencing Disney World with someone for the first time...I have dreamed of this day!  And the cool thing is I get to see it with my friend and her sister (both newbies).  I can't wait to blog about this one!

4. I am going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party...I am so excited.

5. Working on my next original photo.  Last time I did a jumping photo (per my request.  the girl looked at me like I was know they usually just ask you to stand and smile.
but, I love my castle).  This time I have an idea for photographs with the princess (it involves me posing with princess will be special)

That's what I got now.  I can't wait to go and continue to think of new things to highlight on this blog!  I really love it so much!

:) A Happy Blogger...

I Wish...Wednesday! Once in a LIFEtime Photo Opp!

I wish...Wednesday Once in a lifetime photo opp!

One of my favorite parts of The Haunted Mansion ride is when the ghost hitchhikes in your Doom-buggy.  I have always loved seeing which ghost will be planted in between me and the person I am riding with.  Will it be
Phineas,Ezra, or Gus  (seen in order of appearance here from Flickr by Matt Pasant)
I always lean over and kiss my hitchhiker or put my arm around them.  I also like looking at the mirror to see what other guests in other Doom Buggies decided to do.
So here is my wish for this I wish...Wednesday...
Since you aren't supposed to take pictures in the Haunted Mansion (yeah, technically its no flash pictures but, without flash that thing really won't turn out that great anyway) and since you can only look so authentic when holding up your camera to capture the reflection, I wish that this ride had a photo opportunity at this point of the ride.  You know what I'm talking about?  A quick picture is snapped like on Splash Mountain as you come down the hill or like the picture take during the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom as you face the giant dinosaur.

(picture from Virgin Media's site)

Oh boy, I wish I could have a picture of me with my hitchhiking ghost.  Throughout the ride the narrator mentions that there are 999 happy haunts but, there is always room for one more.   I'd be the stinkin' happiest haunt if this wish came true.

Take a look at these seriously ghoud..get it ghoul..haha. ha..hhh. hmpf. videos from youtube

First, this is old Disneyland ad featuring some of the grim grinning ghosts from the attraction:

and because it is such a great ride, here is the complete ride through at Disney World
by:  bsslegel

"Now, I will raise the safety bar and a ghost will follow you home..haaaahaaahaaahaahaaa!"  ...Disney could make tons off of this favorite tag line plastered across the bottom of your very own souvenir photo, all cutesy like with some happy haunts waltzing across the frame or perhaps the singing heads.  I can picture it now.   I wish I could take a ghost home with me...a Haunted Mansion hitchhiking ghost.  Happy haunts you guys!

The Mouse-Necessities

In the Jungle Book, Baloo knew about the bear necessities...Mickey knows that these ears are a mouse necessity! If you are anywhere with in a 10 mile radius of Disney World you can expect to see one of these...

If you have ever been to Disney (World/Land) then you have without a doubt seen these icon ears.  The famous ear hats are donned by young and old alike and come in every variation.  You can buy ears that look like everything from the traditional ears worn by the Mousketeers all the way to ears that look like a Premium Mickey Ice Cream.  The ears come in many styles (traditional cap, head band, and so much more).  I have a super cute cap style Minnie ear hat and (because you do this when you do Disney) I even got my name embroidered on the back.  They are super cute!  My best friend got a cute Glitter headband inspired by Minnie Mouse.  The possibilities are endless.  There are also stores that allow you to "build your ears".  You get to pick out whatever two ears you want and a cap.  I have seen some pretty, um,  interesting combinations.  I wanted to write about where you can buy ears both inside and outside of the park and even at home.  If you haven't gotten your initial ears, take a look at the various locations and get a pair.  Mickey Ears should run you about $20 (with personalization) at the parks.  I think I paid about $8-$15 dollars for my baby nephew's pair last June.  They are a true requirement!

In the Parks
My favorite Ear buying spot is the Le Chapeau Hat Shoppe in the Magic Kingdom.  There is just something about the location that makes the purchase seem more magical (plus the wait is a heck of a lot quicker than other locations I have visited).  Here is where you go:  The Chapeau is located to the right of Main Street USA when you are facing Cinderella Castle (on the main drag just past the flag).  The smells of the Main Street Confectionery will be tempting but keep right and  walk toward the doors into Chapeau.  You'll find different assortments of hats.  Just pick out the hat you want and ask a cast member to assist you buy getting a order form filled out.  Just a side note, the last time we went I wanted to get my nephew's nickname on the hat and they said that only formal names are allowed...bummer...but it was still cute!  I like the Chapeau also because they have the traditional stitching for the names which the Hollywood Studios store didn't have.  There are a wide variety of hats here and it starts your vacation the right way so you can walk right down the middle of Main Street USA in Mickey (or pick your favorite character) style.  Take a look at this feature from on Chapeau, click here to see it.

In Hollywood Studios you can buy ears at Adrian and Edith's Head to Toe.  This store works basically the same as Chapeau however, it takes longer because they have fewer machines and offer more personalizing than just hats. has a great feature on Adrian and Edith's, click here to see it.  (sorry I am sort of in love with  it is a GREAT site!)

The above listed stores are the only ones that I know of inside the parks that embroider hats.  Hats are also sold (but not embroidered) throughout the parks on carts.

Outside of the Parks
Downtown Disney also has a create your own Mickey Ear hat.  The shop is located in the Disney Marketplace area between The Art of Disney and Design a Tee.  There is a great article on with lots of great pictures and information on this location.

On the Web

Mickey Ears can be purchased at a lot of places online.  Some sites offer personalization while others sell only the hat.

I Wish...Wednesday! The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is just for kids....say what?

So, I have seen many blogs that have a theme day.  I really liked that idea so, I have come up with I wish... Wednesday!  So, what is I wish...Wednesday all about anyway?  Each Wednesday I am going to post something that I wish would happen (catchy name hugh?).  Sometimes I will write a little something, sometimes I'll post just a picture, sometimes I'll post a link I like that makes me wish I was at Disney World.  Who knows.  Only Wednesdays will tell the tale.  Today, I wish...

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is Just for Kids...Say What?
I wish that the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique was not just for stinkin' kids.  If you don't know the details on the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique here they are (readers over the age of like 15 should read the rest of this post with extreme caution, as temper tantrums may ensue at the unfairness of it all). Little kids (boys and girls) can have the ultimate Disney experience while in the park.  In a salon setting (that has traditionally caught the eye of princesses more so than princes) kids can be transformed into their favorite Disney Character like your favorite Princess, Hannah Montana,  and just recently a dashing Knight.  There are several packages and it does take some time out of your day but, the deluxe package (The Castle Package) starts at about $190.00 and includes hair, makeup, nails, and a costume with all the trimmings (not to mention a portrait of your sweet princess).

So, since it is my wish on this very first every I wish...Wednesday, I am going to wish that I could have a full Castle Package Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique make-over.  I would be Belle.  I would have a golden ball gown, glittering heels, and a tiara.  (ps-I would provide the princess hands).  It would be glorious!  I think I would go with the traditional princess look you get when you go with the Fairytale princess hairstyle.  If you got jilted (like me) and you didn't get the luxury of experiencing a Disney  World trip with a swing by the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique then you are welcome to share this wish with me.  In fact, I've read the fine print on the official site, and there is no age limit.  Hmmm.... makes you wonder.

Want to know more?
Read up on the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on The Disney Travler's Website

There are two Disney World locations of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (one is located in Downtown Disney and the other is in the Magic Kingdom...I would go with the Magic Kingdom site in Cinderella Castle for the full effect!).  Appointments need to be made in advance.

Beauty and The Beast: Diamond Edition (In stores today!)

I love this movie!  And,  I just got the diamond edition released today, October 5th.  I am watching right now and the picture quality is beautiful.  Here is the official Disney Store site link.  I also wanted to share the trailer

Finally, I wanted to share with you a coupon I found for $10 off your DVD/BLU-ray combo.  I got this in email form but, I googled it and found it too.  Here is the link.  Inside of each DVD you get a voucher to see Tangled in theaters November 24th (it is a $7.50 value).  Think of it as a $24 dollar movie for $6.50 (Okay, okay, maybe that is a little skewed but, my math is magical (honest!).. once you factor in the coupon and the free movie...and just think it'll give you a family movie to see over Thanksgiving).  Yay for Disney and Yay for Beauty and the Beast!!!!

Fall... into the parks!

So, I have been wanting to create a styleboard since I saw one on the Disney Wedding blog.  Well, now it is fall and I have a reason to create one.  What to wear while visiting Disney World in the fall.  I have created an inspiration board for just such an occasion.  I have listed below where you can purchase each item and some thought that went into the selection of each piece for the look. This was so fun to do, I probably did it way old school and fashion is not really my forte', so this was just for fun!  Hopefully you'll get inspired and you can make a styleboard (I did a lot of copying and pasting onto a publisher was easy).  So without further banter, I present my fall Disney vacation look.

Women's Distressed Boyfriends Kahkis
These pants are the perfect weight for an early fall day at Disney World.  I really like that the pants work as a regular trouser or rolled up as shown in the styleboard.

Women's Perfect V-Neck Tees : in Aristocrat Purple

Women's Ruffle Trim Open-Front Cardigan: in Georgia Peach
A light weight cardigan might come in handy on fall nights in the parks.  I have wished for a little warmth while watching nightly fireworks.  I would just keep it in my handbag until I needed it.

Women's Studded Faux-Leather Ballet Flats

Moroccan Trinket Necklace

Antique Filigree Earrings

Rustic Faceted Ring

Versatile Leatherette Bag
You'll want a good sized bag to carry things like a camera, your wallet, and so much more.  A messenger style bag that can be worn securely over across your body is ideal.  This is a good bag because it is small enough to stow away during rides but big enough to put everything you need in.  You will have to go through bag check lines before entering the park but, I am completely cool with that!  I love Disney Security for keeping us safe!

Fossil Watch, Women's Brown Leather Cuff
You'll need to know what time it is so that you can be ready to return for your fastpass time, in order to catch shows and parades, or to work around parades.  Why not know what time it is in style?  This watch provides you fashion and function!

Nine West Sunglasses, Large Mod Square
Protect your eyes from the sun while you enjoy a day in the parks.

Wanna go (part 2) Let's Go to Hollywood Stuidos

So a couple of months ago I posted a virtual vacation to the Magic Kingdom.  I am craving some Disney right about now and I decided to create a playlist for a virtual vacation to Disney's Hollywood Studios.  I love Hollywood Studios.  I hope you enjoy this little escape.

Come on, let's go!  Light, Camera, Action!  Roll Tape....
